kapok + O.N.S. Landmark
kapok Landmark is the third store in the series that COLLECTIVE has designed for kapok.
The concept design sprung out of the unique constraints of the site which spans over 20-meters in width and less than 4 meters in depth. To take advantage the long and narrow shape, it is apparent for the store to always be seen under parallel motion and a continuous flow along the 20-meter store front.
COLLECTIVE created a feature object using kapok’s signature chromatized steel, that appears as though it pierces through the wall uniting the two stores and at the same time as a long marker along the axis to catch the passerby’s elongated attention along their walk. The dual materials used, plywood and chromatized steel, are a signature COLLECTIVE has created for kapok, representing kapok’s spirit of affordable luxury and fun approach to fashion, design, lifestyle and technology.
Although the two stores may be perceived as one when passerby are looking in, kapok and O.N.S. have different interior set-out. kapok is vertical surface display driven, with gradient of lengths of chromatized steel wall shelves and where the long protrudes from the ground acting as a low counter display. While O.N.S. is ‘landscape driven’, with plywood terrace making use of the under zone below the hanging bar, allowing the team to create visual merchandising moments to tell the stories like a seasonal stage.
